Forest Foresight

Forest Foresight is a project spearheaded by WWF-NL to map and observe early indicators of deforestation and combine these with other big data sources to predict deforestation. The overarching objective is to identify forests at heightened risk of deforestation up to six months before adverse events occur, and leverage these predictions to improve efforts to stop illegal deforestation. The outputs of the underlying machine learning model are presented in a dashboard and can be prioritized by users based on e.g. legality of deforestation and impact on biodiversity, and allows stakeholders to respond in a timely manner to manage illegal deforestation.
On this wiki we want to give an overview of the various aspects of Forest Foresight and enable users to understand and use the system to halt illegal deforestation. This documentation gives context about the program.
